It was originally formed in 1910 as\u00a0Silverdale Male Voice in the Staffordshire coal mining village of Silverdale in the 800 year old Borough of\u00a0Newcastle under Lyme and birthplace of Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Cooke &#8211; Prime Minister of Australia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In 1943 the Choir was renamed as Newcastle Male Voice Choir.\u00a0 An ever-changing repertoire strives to combine the best of the Male Voice Tradition with some of the latest songs and arrangements. We sing a wide range of music from traditional male voice music to spirituals to more modern songs like ABBA&#8217;s &#8220;Thank You For The Music&#8221; which was arranged specifically for the choir. We have also recently been priveleged enough to work with two very talented local composers who produced a number of pieces for us to premier.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We aim to: positively support and raise the profile of\u00a0 Newcastle and North Staffordshire through our singing, recording, advertising and through electronic mediums. We believe that the forging of local, regional, national and international links\u00a0 benefits us, our community and the organisations and persons with whom we work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Previous Directors<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Jeanne Adams<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In 2011 the Choir&#8217;s first lady music director, Jeanne Adams, retired from the position after 35 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Choir History Newcastle Male Voice Choir has a long and distinguished history.
